4 Asylum Artists Featured in Contemporary Israeli Painting Exhibit in NYC 4/23

Isreali Asylum Artists Nivi Alroy, Shai Azoulay, Noa Charuvi, and Meital Katz-Minerbo are featured in the group show, Akshav, at the Stein Rose Fine Art Gallery in NYC.

Akhshavwhich translates to “Now” in English, features Nivi Alroy, Shai Azoulay, Noa Charuvi, Maya Israel, Meital Katz-Minerbo, Alon Kedem and Elad Kopler, exploring a generous cross-section of young Israeli painters. Today, in an Israel where new media, installation and performance artists reign supreme, this group of intrepid young upstarts has taken up the brush, determined to reinvent this most ancient and hallowed art form and perhaps themselves and their subjects along with it. Drawing inspiration from orientalism, cubism, the primitive and the surreal, these artists grapple with tropes of rebirth, mythology, archaeology, decay, time, and transformation.
