Orly Noa Rabinyan at the 48 Hour Forum

May 16-17, 2016

Lark Play Development Center, NYC

48 hours, 20 actors, 5 directors, and 5 15-minute plays. Asylum Arts alumna and theater director Orly Noa Rabinyan joined an inspiring project held at NYC’s Noor Theater, during which headlines were turned into short plays, written, directed and performed in just two days. The 48th hour marks curtain time for this international collaboration of Americans, Middle Eastern and Israeli creative forces. Rabinyan directed a play written based on the headline “College Student is Removed from Flight After Speaking Arabic on Plane.”

“We are being very inclusive in this process, and part of the reason for that is that over the years—both inside of Noor and outside—we found that as Middle Eastern or Arab artists, people put a lot of responsibility on our shoulders to respond to the news,” said executive director Maha Chehlaoui to American Theater.
