Nick started in street theatre and since moving indoors has always strove to make work that is funny, political, silly and accessible. That does not allow an audience to sit and relax but has them on the edge of their seat. Work that seeks to build a whole world through storytelling, collaboration and humour. He often makes Jewish work which is simultaneously unforgivingly Jewish and undeniably British. It is work that Jewish audiences can claim as theirs whilst bringing in and making non Jewish people feel welcome and maybe even a bit Jewish. He believes in the universality of specifics. And after all… you don’t need to be an elf to enjoy Lord of the Rings. He has toured his work to major cities and also to the most rural of places. His work has been seen and enjoyed by all sorts of people.
Nick’s work has toured internationally, selling out in venues around the world. He has written plays, created and performed solo work and made street performances in collaboration with some of the country’s most celebrated venues, including The Royal Court, Soho Theatre and Battersea Arts Centre, and he has presented podcasts for The Guardian.
He has an MA from Goldsmiths in Writing for Performance and is a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme.
He is co-artistic director of take stock exchange.
