The Inaugural Urban Artist Retreat was organized by Asylum Arts and JW3, with support from Piece of Cake. It brought together 25 multi-disciplinary artists living in London to learn from local and international industry professionals, working artists and from each other. The Urban Artist Retreat was an invitation-only program that empowered artists with the professional skills necessary for a successful long-term career in the arts, and provide a space for a conversation about artistic and Jewish identity in the UK. Through the intensive retreat, we began to create an artist community founded on reciprocity and inclusivity to build the UK cultural landscape.
Held at JW3, the retreat included professional development workshops, community building and the opportunity to learn about each artist’s work. Master classes were led by experts in the field, as well as sessions taught by artists and community members. Workshops included Fundraising, Public Presentations, Personal and Professional Financial Management for Artists, and Online Presence for Artists.
